Meal Site Coordinator - Full Time - $15.48/Hour
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Meal Site Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all tasks and activities related to the day to day operation of the Senior Services congregate meal site are carried out in a manner that fosters a warm, inviting and safe atmosphere while adhering to all guidelines set forth by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs, the Area Agency on Aging of Palm Beach/Treasure Coast, the Florida Department of Health and the internal Okeechobee Senior Services congregate meal site policies and procedures manual. This position reports to the Program Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Setup, maintain, and clean up all food preparation, serving and dining areas, and equipment each day of operation.
- Follow food safety guidelines in the preparation and serving of all food and beverage items and insure that all other staff and/or volunteers assisting with the handling of foods are properly trained and following the food safety guidelines as well.
- Encourage client donations for meals submitting daily receipts for confirmation and deposit.
- Recruit, train, and supervise the activities of approved volunteers who are assisting in any aspect of the operations of the meal site.
- Receive, evaluate quality and viability, and document all donated food items received for the meal site and utilize them accordingly.
- Conduct a biweekly inventory of all meal program related food stocks, supplies, (including cleaning products and equipment), and prepare timely orders for restocking. Follow first in, first out (FIFO) method of supply utilization.
- Verify and properly store all meal program related food stocks, supplies and equipment received from vendors, and provide confirmation of receipt of the same to the Fiscal Specialist. All food stocks received for the meal site must be dated upon receipt.
- Maintain daily, monthly, and quarterly records of menus, food temperatures, training, safety, storage, donations, volunteers, etc. as required by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs Programs and Services Handbook, applicable grants, the Nutritional Program Compliance Review Form (NPCR) and the Florida Department of Health.
- Train on all home delivered meal routes and run a route if/when needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Able to use a computer and to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office software
- Able to write legibly and to implement and maintain both written and electronic records
- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Able to deal tactfully, develop a rapport with, and develop an understanding of senior citizens of various ethnic and cultural backgrounds
- Able to maintain an efficient, sanitary and orderly kitchen, and to plan, coordinate, and prepare nutritious foods to supplement and enhance bulk food received daily as needed
- Able to organize assigned tasks effectively in a manner that results in the efficient use of time
- Able to make sound judgments when faced with difficult or emergency situations with elderly clients and/or volunteers, reporting these situations through proper channels
- Able to interact well with providers, agencies, and area businesses to advocate for Senior Services
- Able to safely operate the meal route vans and to learn the meal routes
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Valid High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience working with senior population and/or in food service preferred
- Valid Florida Driver's License with Safe Driving record
- Level II Background Screening
- Safe Staff food safety certification withing the first 90-days of employment
