Job Summary :
Responsible for nursing care under the supervision of physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.
Essential Functions :
- Obtain, verify and record health history of patients.
- Gather pertinent health data through physical assessments.
- Room patients.
- Provide basic patient care as ordered by providers.Administer medications, which may include subcutaneous or intramuscularinjections, and treatments as directed by physicians or physician assistants.
- Assist providers in performing exams, procedures and treatments.
- Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines to include cleaning exam roomsbetween patients, sterilizing equipment and supplies, using germicides, sterilizerand autoclave.
- Accurately and completely document assessments, interventions, patient / familyresponses, medications dispensed / prescribed and test results in medical record.
- Observe patients and report adverse reactions to medication or treatment tomedical personnel in charge.
- May be required to perform phlebotomy duties.
- Educate and instruct patients about self-administered medications.
- Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicatingphysician advice / instructions.
- Order, sort and store supplies and restock exam rooms.
- Answer telephone calls and messages from patients to include relayinginstructions to patients or family member and provide pertinent information.
- Accurately relay prescription information to pharmacies.
- Fulfill clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include sending or receivingpatient medical records; obtaining lab, x-ray, hospital notes, referral information,etc.; completing forms for pre-certifications and / or pre-authorization formedication and / or procedures.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines.
- Check and resolve assigned tasks in EMR program.
- Assist co-workers as needed.
- Responsible for neatness of work area to include stocking and cleaning.
- Be productive when faced with any down time during work hours.
- Maintain emotional control and diplomacy at all times.
- Maintain open and positive lines of communication.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate sensible and efficient use of equipment and supplies by limitingwaste, spoilage or damage.

Scheduled Working Hours :
Normal work hours are 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 8 : 00 a.m. to 1 : 00 p.m. on Fridays. Hours may vary depending upon the needs of the position, department, and clinic.

Equipment Operated :
Computer, stethoscope, echocardiography (EKG) machine, automated external defibrillator(AED), blood pressure cuff, and other nursing items. May involve use of walkers,wheelchairs, pulse oximetry and oxygen tanks.
