Location: Oklahoma City, OK

Pay: Competitive pay based on education and/or experience and $500 bonus after 6 months and $1,000 bonus after 1 year!

Days: Monday through Friday; some weekends

Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; may vary

Position:

Perform HPC and MNC collections by apheresis and provide practical nursing care to autologous/allogenic donors and patients pre, post, and during collection procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school with current Oklahoma Practical Nursing licensure
  • Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience with skilled venipuncture techniques
  • CPR/BLS
  • Minimum one year clinical experience
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekend, holidays and call responsibility
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to maintain positive professional relationship with other healthcare professionals, patients, and co-workers in a busy, stressful environment
  • Ability to work with technical equipment
  • Ability to communicate with patients, donors and families
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and self direction

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Donor screening and consenting for apheresis procedures.
  • Perform HPC and MNC collections by apheresis in OKC and Tulsa without supervision.
  • Patient/Donor care and monitoring.
  • Proper assembly and monitoring of apheresis instruments.
  • QC of HPC instruments and supplies.
  • Proper packaging of products for transport and shipping.
  • Perform HPC and MNC collections, phlebotomy, and collection of samples for laboratory testing after demonstration of competency of peripheral access with apheresis needles.
  • Complete and accurate documentation of procedure records.
  • Insert intravenous (IV) catheters following training and demonstration of competency.
  • Provide CVC care and dressing changes following training, demonstration of competency and authorization of medical director.
  • Following training, administer PO, SQ, IM and IV medications and therapy as prescribed by the Medical Director or designee. Administration of IV therapy and medication is performed under supervision or direction of an OBI RN, PA or Physician.
  • Donor vein assessment.
  • Communicate with OBI Medical Team, patient/donor physician, HPC supervisor, HPC processing and appropriate transplant or research team members regarding collection procedures, deviations, adverse events, abnormal or unexpected lab results, etc.
  • Receive and document verbal orders from attending physician and OBI medical director or designee.
  • Effectively communicate with and answer questions posed by donors/patients and family members regarding collection protocols and procedures, expectations, risks and potential side effect and adverse reactions associated with apheresis procedure, medications, and fluids.
  • Verify and collaborate on all HPC SOPs, WI and forms to be entered into Master Control.
  • Complete all forms and documents concurrently with cGTP practices.
