Your role:
In your role as Commercial Portfolio Specialist, you will be responsible for handling the portfolio management activities of commercial loan relationships. These activities may include assisting in annual loan reviews, origination and preparation of incoming loan requests, loan renewals and extensions, collecting financial statements, tax returns, credit underwriting, evaluation, loan structuring, and exception and loan covenant monitoring.
In this role you will:
- Perform pre-qualification assessments and gather the necessary loan application package/documents, along with business, financial, and personal background information required to move forward with the member’s credit request and present written memos outlining the financing request to Member Business Loan Committee and third-party underwriting vendor.
- Maintain the loan pipeline and loan lead follow-up.
- Work in tandem with loan operations on the annual reviews of the current portfolio and the processing of potential loans.
- Assist potential borrowers with the application process.
- Identify opportunities to expand business within the portfolio by cross-selling additional products and services.
- Communicate credit approvals to members, visit loan collateral, deliver loan documents for signature, and ensure that loan requests are processed and booked.
- Review flood certifications, title reports, and credit reports for accuracy and information verification.
- Act as liaison between appraisal reviewers, title companies, buyers, and sellers.
- Maintain credit quality and annual reviews of assigned loan portfolio within Credit Union standards and guidelines; promptly surface all risk issues uncovered while uncovered while managing the portfolio. Work in concert with management to assess emerging risks and develop resolution strategies.
- Prepare and verify weekly commercial loan reports.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of the Credit Union's current policies and guidelines established for Commercial Lending.
- Monitor and manage delinquent loans.
- Responsible for the annual review, renewal, loan covenant compliance reviews, and collection of financial documents for the Credit Union's commercial loan portfolio.
- Authorize commitment and decline letters.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including but not limited to representing the credit union at community events, networking opportunities, and industry gatherings to build brand awareness and generate leads.
- Comply with the requirements of all Credit Union policies and procedures, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering regulations as they relate to the position.
- Comply with all security guidelines related to physical and information security.
- Deliver service to both internal and external members that are aligned with the Credit Union's Service Standards and meet all established service goals.

Requirements

You'll need to have:
- High school diploma, GED or higher
- Three or more years of similar or related experience in a financial institution
Even better if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Previous commercial lending experience
