Your role:
In your role as Underwriter, your focus will be on delivering outstanding service to both internal and external members. You will be responsible for analyzing consumer loan requests and making credit decisions based on credit union lending policy.
In this role you will:
- Review and analyze consumer loan applications, credit reports, income documents, and financial statements to determine the creditworthiness of applicants.
- Make lending decisions within established loan authority limits, ensuring adherence to credit union lending policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Provide exceptional service to credit union team members by addressing inquiries, explaining loan terms and conditions of lending decisions, and further lending opportunities that will benefit the member.
- Prepare monthly lending reports to be reviewed by Lending Management.
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with lending decisions, recommending loan structures and terms that align with the credit union's risk tolerance.
- Work closely with loan officers, branch staff, and other departments to ensure a seamless lending process and timely loan decisions.
- Stay informed regarding industry regulations, lending standards, and credit union policies to ensure compliance and minimize risk.
- Prepare and maintain accurate loan documentation, ensuring completeness and compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Deliver service to internal and external members that align with the credit union’s Service Standards and meet all established service goals.
- Maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere toward members, employees, guests, and vendors.
- Comply with the requirements of all Credit Union policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering regulations as they relate to the position.
- Comply with all security guidelines related to physical and information security.

Requirements

You'll need to have:
- An associate degree or higher, or completion of specialized course of study at a business or trade school
- Three or more years of related experience

- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Credit Union experience
