Description
General Description: This position reports to the athletic director and the division principal. The coach/activity sponsor prayerfully helps student athletes learn skills and attitudes that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christian men and women to the praise and glory of God.
Qualifications

- A lifestyle of biblical integrity
- A spirit of dedication, teamwork, flexibility, and responsiveness
- The ability to respond to counsel

- Effective communicator
- Commercial Driver’s License, preferred
- Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries training
- Annual Review of NFHS online courses: Concussion in Sports: What you need to know, Heat Illness Prevention, and Sudden Cardiac Awareness
Duties and Responsibilities
Spiritual
- Models a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ in speech, actions, and attitudes
- Actively involved in church
- Follows Matthew 18 principle in dealing with interpersonal conflict
- Encourages students to accept God’s gift of salvation and grow in their faith
General
- Plans and executes practice
- Attends all practices and games
- Coordinates with transportation director to provide transportation to and from events
- Coordinates and attends all team events (team dinner, banquet, etc.)
- Effectively partners with parents
- Schedule and hold a parent meeting annually
- Ministers to the whole child – spiritual, intellectual, physical, social, emotional
- Creates a culture/environment conducive to student learning
- Demonstrates mastery and continued learning in the sport
- Integrates biblical teaching
- Adheres to all OSSAA policies
- Nominates athletes for post season awards
- Communicates stats and stories with media outlets
- Communicates awards, stories, and performance to the OCS advancement team to post on social media
- Oversees scheduling where applicable
Personal/Professional
- Adheres to all policies and procedures governing the operation of the school
- Proactively communicates with parents and administrators
- Maintains regular and accurate records
- Pursues professional development opportunities
- Attends and arrives punctually to coaches meetings
- Maintains professional dress and appearance
- Demonstrates the character qualities of courtesy, friendliness, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, and perseverance
- Meets everyday stress with emotional stability
- Responds respectfully and is loyal to constituted authority
- Represents the school in a favorable and professional manner
