Position Description: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Residence Life to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about enhancing the student residential experience through relationships, mentoring, and community building to support the students’ academic, social, and spiritual life. Oklahoma Christian University prioritizes a positive residential living experience for undergraduate students, as an integral part of the preparation of an OC graduate. This position will report to the Dean of Students.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Residence Life department, which include 12 full-time direct reports, 45 student staff members, and over 1,200 residents
Select and train Resident Directors and student staff to promote community at OC help students thrive
Coordinate the room assignment process using the housing software with the goals of high student satisfaction and high occupancy
Establish the mission and goals of Residence Life with feed back from the Dean of Students, other staff and students
Coordinate all move-in and move-out processes including planning, training and communication
Develop and implement a plan to fully utilize residence halls and apartments to maximize net revenue
Coordinate with Physical Plant the operation and repairs of all residential facilities
Review and revise residential life policies and procedures
Coordinate with the Assistant Director of Residential Facilities to assess the furnishings, carpets and facility conditions yearly to determine necessary replacements and improvements
Be available to assist with after-hours emergencies, and communicate with campus emergency services
Maintain a culture of serving students to promote student satisfaction and retention
Assist in Student Life events, including new student orientation, campus visit days, etc
Complete other duties as assigned consistent with the achievement of the University mission
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; a Master’s degree in student personnel or higher education and/or experience in university residence life preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Dynamic leadership skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
Proficiency in computer applications, including Google Workspace, and ability to learn The Housing Director software
Ability to build and lead a team of residence life professionals and work collaboratively with colleagues
