POSITION SUMMARY
The Data Analyst maintains and reports on donor, subscriber, and patron data. The position supports various departments in preparing daily reports, creating dashboards and visualizations, and narrative summaries for presentation to leadership. In addition, the role oversees communications with patrons regarding gifts, payments, and receipts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilize existing data to prepare lists and reports for financial, audit, and development purposes
- Collect, analyze, and summarize data into reports, dashboards, and visualizations
- Recommend best practices for data management and protocols for handling, processing, and cleaning data to ensure the effective and accurate tracking of relevant data
- Track expenses and program activities that meet federal or foundation grant requirements
- Work alongside management to identify KPIs to measure the success of organizational activities
- Summarize data for decision-making and continuous improvements
- Maintain appropriate records of source data, analysis or research methods and results
- Create, administer, and summarize feedback from surveys
- Utilize software to analyze and interpret data to identify trends, make predictions and forecasts
- Track current and historical ticket sales, renewal rates, and marketing campaign results
- Enter and maintain gifts, pledges, and new donor account details
- Prepare donor statements, acknowledgments, receipts, and process payments
- Support the marketing and development functions of the organization, including patron services during concerts, subscriber renewal campaigns, and fundraising appeals
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization or equivalent work experience preferred
- One to two years of experience in a data analysis role (queries, macros, automation, etc.)
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM) experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced MS Excel skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Sit and stand for extended periods, and walk, bend, and reach to access files/storage and office equipment
- Using a computer while sitting for extended periods is common
- Ability to communicate orally with patrons, vendors, management, and coworkers
- Regular use of phone and email for communication
- Hearing and vision correctable to within normal ranges for normal conversations, receiving ordinary information and preparing or inspecting documents
- No heavy lifting is expected, though occasional exertion of about 20 lbs. of force (e.g., picking up and carrying binders, and laptops) may be required
- Manual dexterity is required to use common office equipment (e.g., computers, mobile devices, calculators, copiers, scanners)
