What are the responsibilities and job description for the FY25 Summer Enhancement - High School Credit Recovery position at Oklahoma City Public Schools?
- Attends faculty meetings led by summer school Administrators.
- Teaches any combination of reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music to pupils in a classroom, using the course of study adopted by the Oklahoma State Department of Education and Oklahoma City’s Board of Education and any other appropriate learning activities.
- Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil with the identified objectives.
- Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Treat pupils with respect and dignity.
- Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil’s progress and interpret the school program.
- Interacts with pupils, staff and parents in a positive and professional manner.
- Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Establish rapport with pupils and provides a pleasant, safe, and orderly climate conducive to learning.
- Actively participates in full implementation of the OKCPS model for School Improvement.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and selfselected professional growth activities.
- Supervise and monitor students during out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day which may include but not limited to (cafeteria duty, field trips, playground duty, hallway monitor, etc.)
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Online credit recovery with in person instructional support
- Online credit recovery with online instructional support (e3) for grades twelve (12) and twelve-plus (12 ) students that are credit deficient.
- A total of 1.5 credits can be earned during summer school (possibility of 2.0 credit hours with dispensation)
- The credit recovery program will offer four weeks of direct support for students attempting to recover credit. The academic sessions will be offered in the morning time to increase enrollment and engage more students.
- Dates for in-person credit recovery: June 2nd through June 27th
- Monday through Friday
- 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM
- Dates for online credit recovery (e3): May 27th through June 27th for those individuals working to fulfill graduation requirements in order to fulfill graduation requirements for their high school diploma.
- This plan would mirror the work done around “Bridge to Graduation” and would incorporate the tools and practices of the e3 department around credit recovery.
- Teachers would incorporate office hours to help support student learning, maintain communication between the student, and families, to ensure students are on track to earn credit, and assist with program or technology troubleshooting
- Enrollment window: April 15th through May 15th
- Staff Referral: Students who have unsuccessfully attempted a core course or qualifying elective course needed to meet their graduation requirements are eligible for credit recovery. Enrollment must be completed by a school administrator or guidance counselor.
- Counselor responsibilities - working with home site, loading students into Edgenuity, running credit checks, working in Infinite Campus

- Counselor pre-work: 20 hours maximum
- Teacher pre-work/professional development: 6 hours maximum
- Principal Work Day: 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM (4 hrs/day)
- Counselor Work Day: 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM (4 hrs/day)
- Front Office Receptionist Work Day: 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM (4 hrs/day)
- Virtual Teacher Day (on site?): Flexed (4 hrs/day)
- Teacher Work Day: 8:45 AM - 12:45 PM (3.5 hrs/day)
- Bachelor’s in education or a related field
- Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Elementary Education in appropriate subject or subjects or Alternative Teaching Certification as approved by Oklahoma State Department of Education.
- Must possess ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, demonstrate self-discipline and initiative, follow state and district guidelines.
- Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer.
- Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret and transcribe written material and other required duties.
- Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone.
- Requires some stooping, bending, stretching and occasional lifting not to exceed 50 pounds.

The goal for the credit recovery face to face instruction is that a student receives their instruction from a certified OKCPS Staff member in a class size ratio no larger than 20:1. A primary goal for the 2025 program is related to the continuation of small class sizes. It is the district’s goal to provide the most in depth individualized support for those students attending the in person component of credit recovery.

Summer school counselors will be allowed 20 hours of pre-work to be paid for the preparation of summer school
Classroom teachers will be allowed 6 hours of pre-work to be paid for the preparation of summer school.
