Job Description - Justice Navigator (Cleveland County)

OVERVIEW

The Diversion Hub is a comprehensive, one-stop network dedicated to assisting justice-involved individuals in Oklahoma, Canadian, and Cleveland Counties by harnessing the power of multiple support agencies through combined and synchronized services. Our goal is to provide life-stabilizing resources while empowering individuals to reduce their encounters with the criminal legal system through enhanced support services, including case management, data integration and coordinated communication under one roof. Justice Navigators will provide direct justice navigation services to clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Justice Navigators will focus on supporting the execution of the Diversion Hub's programs and mission. The responsibilities of the Justice Navigator include:

  • Conducting intakes for all new clients that are seeking assistance.
  • Coordinating jail releases, assisting with discharge planning, and working alongside partners to help clients with probation, bond conditions, and treatment court requirements.
  • Researching present and past criminal legal involvement, documenting progress notes, communicating with case managers and partners on the criminal legal involvement of clients, responsible for tracking upcoming court-ordered appearances, and maintaining complete and comprehensive records for clients to assist them with compliance with the court system.
  • Maintaining court-ordered appearances for all clients so that clients can be notified of the upcoming court appearances and in the case of an emergency, providing the relevant information and documentation to the court excusing the clients' presence, while also re-setting the court date alongside the attorney.
  • Assisting with pre-trial and/or probation compliance.
  • Evaluating client risk and assessing the need for immediate intervention and/or assignment of client to the case management team.
  • Serving as ongoing liaison with case managers, services navigators, judges, court clerks, attorneys, and all referring sources.
  • Submitting all required justice navigation reports timely for program activity which includes but is not limited to communicating program data, denoting activities and changes of clients, as well as meeting all reporting requirements that ensure adequate services are being delivered.
  • Assisting client with developing self-sufficiency and stability by helping with overcoming barriers and meeting the expressed needs of the client.
  • Always adhering to agency code of ethics and professional standards including maintaining strict client confidentiality.
  • Attending all staff development, trainings and meetings as required.
  • Any other duties within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the job.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1 to 3 years of experience in social work, communication, criminal justice, political science, or similar human service area.

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Clearance of background check.
  • Must have own transportation for site visits. Valid driver's license and insurance on motor vehicle in accordance with state law and agency requirements.

COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

Intermediate computer, mobile device and internet skills with knowledge of software programs including but not limited to:

  • Windows and Microsoft Office Products
  • Cloud-based File Sharing such as Google Drive and Dropbox
  • Adobe Products
  • Client Databases
  • Salesforce

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to sit over long periods of time and be able to talk, hear, sit, stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl climb stairs, lift and or move items of up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have excellent command of English language and grammar, both verbal and written. Must be able to manually operate and use a computer. Must be able to clearly hear and understand telephone conversations.
