Oklahoma Dental Implants & Oral Surgery seeks a skilled Surgical Assistant to join our team of dedicated professionals. As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the success of our oral surgery procedures.
About the Role
- You will assist our surgeons during surgeries by performing various tasks such as tissue retraction, intravenous line management, and documentation.
- Preoperative and postoperative duties will be performed to facilitate patient care, including verifying patient identities and operative sites.
- Discussions with the surgeon regarding the nature of the surgical procedure, including operative consent and exposure methods, are also essential.
Responsibilities
- Perform preoperative and postoperative duties to facilitate patient care.
- Verify the identity of patients and operative sites.
- Discuss with the surgeon the nature of the surgical procedure, including operative consent and methods of operative exposure.
- Monitor and maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures.
- Maintain an unobstructed operative field using surgical retractors, sponges, and suctioning and irrigating equipment.
- Determine availability of necessary equipment and supplies for operative procedures.
- Obtain and inspect sterile and non-sterile surgical equipment, supplies, and instruments.
- Operate sterilization devices.
- Monitor patient intraoperative status.
- Obtain dental radiographs and dental imaging.
- Complete patient clinical narratives.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- BLS certification is mandatory, or the ability to complete it within one month of hire.
- At least one year of related experience is preferred.
- DAANCE certification is desired.
- Licensed dental assistant is preferred.
- Radiology certification is preferred.
