About the Position :
Here at the Oklahoma Forensic Center the Recreation department is hiring for Recreation Therapists that would be responsible for planning, organizing, directing and conducting client therapy programs and instructing or supervise clients in an inpatient behavioral health facility.

Hourly payrate : Level II- $21.15, Level I- $20.19
Primary Working Hours are 8 : 00am-4 : 30pm

Minimum Qualifications and Experience :
Level II-Master’s degree in recreational therapy, outdoor recreation or physical education; or a bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy, outdoor recreation or physical education and one year of experience in recreational therapy; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Level I- Bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy, outdoor recreation, physical education or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements :
May be required to work occasional weekends.
Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.
Must be able to pass an OSBI background check.

About us :
Come grow with us! The Oklahoma Forensic Center (OFC) located in Vinita, OK is a 24 hour / 365 day secure inpatient forensic facility with a forensic step-down unit and provides jail competency services for the State of Oklahoma. Currently, OFC has 216 beds for consumers in the main facility who have been found incompetent for adjudication or adjudicated as Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity. The transitions unit across the street is a secure 52 bed forensic step-down unit. OFC is expanding with construction scheduled to be completed in June 2026 adding an additional 84 beds to the main facility. When completed, OFC will have a total of 300 beds to house consumers in the main facility along with the 52 bed step-down unit.
Drug and Alcohol Pre-employment and Pre-placement Testing : Upon a conditional offer of employment, applicants for safety sensitive positions shall be required to submit to urinalysis to test for drugs. Appointment to a safety sensitive position shall be contingent upon a negative drug test result.
THIS AGENCY REQUIRES COVERAGE 24 HOURS, 7 DAYS PER WEEK. WORK HOURS AND LOCATION MAY VARY DEPENDING ON BUSINESS NECESSITY. EMPLOYEES MAY BE REQUIRED TO WORK WEEKENDS AND OVERTIME.
