About the Position: Under close supervision, this position provides non-professional direct or indirect care for consumers of behavioral health treatment in an inpatient care setting. This includes participation in de-escalation activities and assuring that consumers are kept safe. This position acts as a role model for consumers and other employees, demonstrating effective problem solving and decision-making skills and will assist in providing recreational and therapeutic activities for the consumer, transporting residents to and from medical appointments, and assuring scheduled programming is carried out. This position is expected to model best practices for other employees on the unit.
Job Type/Salary:
- Hourly Rate is $17.09/hour

9 Positions Available; 3 Per Shift:
- Day Shift - 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
- Evening Shift - 2:30 PM - 11 PM
- Overnight Shift - 10:30 PM - 7 AM
- Days of the week will vary according to schedule needs

- Extra $0.50/hour for working evenings and nights
- Extra $0.75/hour for working weekends
- Extra $1/hour for working on an inpatient unit

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Associate's degree or two years of experience in providing behavioral health patient care, or a combination of education and experience.
- Preference may be given to Internal ODMHSAS applicants or those with documented behavioral health experience.
Special Requirements:
- Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of occasionally lifting/carrying 50 pounds and able to push and pull a maximum force of 25 pounds.
- Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.

About us: Griffin Memorial Hospital (GMH) is located in Norman, Oklahoma, and serves all 77 counties in Oklahoma as a Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) treatment center for adults. Griffin Memorial Hospital is a 120-bed acute psychiatric hospital serving persons aged 18 and over with severe mental illness and provides in-patient hospital care for those in need of mental health & substance abuse services.
