Essential Functions :
Under direction, responsible for assisting in the implementation and oversight of all communication efforts related to OMPA. This role involves working with staff, consultants, media, and the participants to develop and execute programs that complement OMPA's power supply initiatives. Responsibilities include managing social media content (Facebook, Twitter, and You Tube), creating marketing materials, and assisting in the promotion of member municipal electric systems and customer programs through presentations and consultations.
Primary Responsibilities :
Develops, executes, and manages creative marketing and communications strategies for internal and external audiences through written materials, publications, press releases, social media, templates, events, programs, and services. This includes, but is not limited to :
Value of Public Power initiatives
OMPA newsletter
OMPA Annual Reports
Departmental requests and key initiatives.
Directs, develops, and executes feature articles, interviews, presentations, and marketing campaigns that enhance awareness of OMPA’s mission and objectives.
Oversees various communication activities, including writing, editing, scripting, and content production.
Analyzes and evaluates communication strategies, making adjustments to optimize outreach and engagement.
Ensures consistent implementation of OMPA's brand across all written collateral, including publications, presentations, etc.
Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with departmental staff, member employees, and other stakeholders.
Manages the development, content, and maintenance of OMPA's website.
Manages and maintains database of media contacts.
Captures photos and videos at corporate events and activities, including the OMPA Annual Meeting.
Says informed about relevant industry trends, professional developments, and internal utility updates.
Builds and maintains relationships with member cities by visiting council meetings, events, and other
engagements.
Serves as the primary point of contact during large scale outages.
Education and Experience Requirements :
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as marketing, business administration, communications, or a related discipline.
EXPERIENCE GENERAL
Minimum of 3 years of related experience and / or training in communications, marketing, or a similar role.
