Position will perform as Virtual Visitation Specialist I- GRANT FUNDED Position based at Central Oklahoma Juvenile Center 700 South Ninth Tecumseh OK 74873 Annual Salary : $ 60,000.00 Hourly Salary : $28.84 GRANT FUNDED time limit 07 / 31 / 2026 Non-exempt Basic Purpose The Virtual Visitation Specialist is responsible for facilitating virtual visits between youth in treatment programs and their families or guardians. The role aims to reduce feelings of separation and loneliness for the youth, ensuring they remain connected with their loved ones. By providing this support, the Virtual Visitation Specialist contributes to seamless positive support during the youth’s treatment program and aids in preparing them for successful reentry into the community. The position requires close collaboration with Juvenile Justice Services (JJS), Behavioral Health Coordinators (BHC), and other members of the youth’s treatment team to identify and address barriers in meeting their treatment and reentry needs. Additionally, the Virtual Visitation Specialist will contribute positively to fostering a cooperative relationship within the workplace and will work collaboratively with colleagues, professional advisors, managers, and other service providers the Agency partners with. Typical Functions / Position Responsibilities / Essential Functions : Coordinate and facilitate virtual visitations between youth and their families / guardians, ensuring smooth, timely connections. Provide technical support to both youth and families, ensuring ease of access and participation in virtual visits. Monitor visitations to ensure they are positive, productive, and aligned with treatment goals. Collaborate with Juvenile Justice Services (JJS), Behavioral Health Coordinators (BHC), and other treatment team members to address barriers and support the youth’s treatment and reentry needs. Document and report on visit outcomes, providing feedback to the treatment team. Address challenges that arise during virtual visits and serve as a liaison between families and treatment staff. Advocate for family connection and guide families / guardians in enhancing the effectiveness of virtual visits. Ensure adherence to virtual visitation policies, maintaining accountability and safety standards. Assist families with using technology for virtual visitations, ensuring accessibility and smooth operation. Support youth in understanding the value of family connections for their treatment and reentry plans. Foster a collaborative work environment by building relationships with colleagues, managers, and external partners. Evaluate and suggest improvements to the virtual visitation process to better support the youth and families. Education and Experience : Education and Experience required at this level consists of a bachelor’s degree in social work, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Information Technology or a related field or four years of professional experience in juvenile justice, child welfare, social work, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies : The Virtual Visitation Specialist must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with youth, families, and treatment team members. They should have a solid understanding of virtual visitation technology and troubleshooting, ensuring seamless interaction during visitations. Knowledge of juvenile justice systems, behavioral health practices, and family dynamics in treatment settings is essential. The incumbent should demonstrate empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity, while maintaining professional boundaries. Competence in managing multiple tasks, prioritizing responsibilities, and maintaining accurate records is critical. Additionally, the specialist must exhibit a collaborative approach, working effectively with colleagues, external partners, and service providers to support the youth’s treatment and reentry goals.
