Description

The Graduate Assistant, Data Management and Analysis will be responsible for developing SQL Queries and conveying their results in a useful format, which is usually either a CSV File or a Tableau Report. This person will work closely with the Information Services team to retrieve information from multiple sources; and resolve data problems regarding file failure, data quality and information timing. This person will also assist staff with troubleshooting and resolving desktop support issues. This person will also collect data from multiple; makes decisions on how to complete tasks and solve problems; and will organize, plan, and prioritizes work involving multiple tasks.

Data Analysis:                       75%

  • Analyze data and develop queries to provide data lists for OSUAA and our partner entities
  • Analyze and solve problems related to constituent data
  • Analyze and resolve issues with current and planned systems as they relate to the integration and management of constituent data
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Use deductive and inductive reasoning to solve problems and analyze systems
  • Verify backups of data are regularly performed
  • In collaboration with others, build reports and interpret data and develop recommendations based on findings
  • Evaluate current systems to improve operations and integrity of data
  • Develop reports and data integrity audits as necessary
  • Consult with staff on coding problems and assist in developing means to correct the problems
  • Present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner
  • In collaboration with others, develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize efficiency and data quality
  • Perform data entry, either manually or using scanning technology, when needed or required
  • Implement data mining techniques and procedures, knowing when their use is appropriate

 

Administrative:                     25%

  • Perform general IT tasks as needed to support staff members
  • Interface with network support personnel when needed to provide for staff needs
  • Understand and that ensure confidentiality law and organization/industry standards are satisfied
  • Serve as an internal resource for staff training and troubleshooting on the Customer Relations Management (CRM) system.

Qualifications


Knowledge

  1. Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL)
  2. Experience with a Programming Language (Python, C, COBOL, etc)
  3. Familiarity with physical computer hardware (CPUs, GPUs, RAM, etc.), computer software, and how they operate together.
  4. Familiarity with drafting technical documentation for software, including system diagrams.
  5. Understanding of Data Mining, Problem Solving, and Troubleshooting processes and principles.
  6. Understanding of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and their applications.
  7. Exposure to Snowflake Data Warehouse, Salesforce CRM, and Tableau

  11. Troubleshooting skills to assess why a system isn’t behaving as expected/desired.
