What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ast/Aso/Full Professor, Mechanical Design Engineer position at Oklahoma State University?
This faculty position is an 11-month, tenure-track appointment in the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering (BAE) with Research (70%) and Teaching (30%) responsibilities in mechanical design and innovation and is expected to begin on or before June 30th, 2025.
The faculty member will be expected to develop and sustain a nationally recognized, externally funded, and responsive research program in mechanical design with specialties of interest that may include, but are not limited to : advanced fluid power systems, equipment and systems design for off-road vehicles and precision agriculture, hybrid power transmission, automation, system performance assessment, intelligent machines for agricultural production, unmanned aerial systems, innovative processing systems, machine vision technologies, and robotics. The successful individual will expand departmental activities in machine systems and develop innovative designs and technology applications that enhance agricultural and forestry production practices, food processing methods, and use of natural resources.
Close collaboration is also expected with faculty in BAE and other departments in the Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (DASNR), the College of Engineering, Architecture & Technology (CEAT), and other units of the University, as well as regional, state, and federal organizations.
Teaching responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate courses within the Biosystems Engineering (ABET accredited) and the Agricultural Systems Technology degree curricula that support the machine systems and agricultural engineering area and align with expertise. Updating and implementing innovative teaching methods / materials, contributing to senior design capstone and student projects, and advising and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students are also expected.
