Job Summary :
Oversee the daily operations and responsibilities of Building Engineers and Engineering Technicians, which encompasses managing FMX work tickets, preventative maintenance work orders, and equipment repairs. This role entails organizing engineers' work schedules to ensure adequate coverage at all times. Additionally, it involves approving all engineers' time records and managing requests for vacation and time off. The position is also accountable for the operation and upkeep of all split systems, package units, ice machines, lighting systems, as well as electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems across all campus buildings. It necessitates direct communication with various vendors for the maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment, lighting systems, and plumbing systems. Furthermore, it requires interaction with staff, faculty, and students to ensure a high-quality work environment. Some travel may be required for this position.
Specific Tasks :
The Building Engineer Supervisor dedicates 30% of their time to the management of support operations, which includes the creation, oversight, and timely distribution of incoming FMX work tickets. This role ensures that assignments are properly received and that tickets are closed in an appropriate manner.
Another 30% of their time is allocated to the operation and maintenance of building systems, which encompasses the management of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, and plumbing across all campus facilities. This involves effective communication and interaction with various vendors for the maintenance and repair of HVAC, plumbing, and lighting systems, as well as liaising with campus departmental contacts regarding facility management issues.
Additionally, 30% of the supervisor's time is spent on the supervision and training of building engineers and engineering technicians. This responsibility includes ensuring that team members are proficient in their assigned tasks, scheduling engineers weekly to ensure adequate coverage, approving time, attending meetings, and providing updates on work status to the Assistant Director of Building Operations.
Finally, 10% of their time is reserved for other duties as assigned.
