This position will serve as an Extension Assistant in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture (HLA). The candidate will assist with scheduling of the new The Botanic Garden (TBG) at OSU educational facility. They will also answer phones, assist visitors, assist with horticulture and TBG extension related inquiries, assist with scheduling and conducting TBG tours, especially for schools, garden groups, and Master Gardeners, assist with building upkeep and cleanliness. The candidate will assist creating and distributing social media posts and announcements for the Department of HLA, TBG, and the Oklahoma Gardening television show. The position will assist with development, submission, and execution of horticulture extension and education related grant proposals and projects. The position will report directly to the Department of HLA Department Head.

Education & Experience
Position Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's in Horticulture, Plant Science, Ag, Environ Science or closely related, with 1-2 years experience in extension, horticulture, or public education.
Valid drivers’ license, certified pesticide applicator in category 3A or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
Proficient in MS Office, grant proposal development, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media outlets
Preferred:
Master's in Horticulture, Plant Science, Ag, Environ Science or closely related with 3 or more years experience in extension, horticulture, or public education.
Valid drivers’ license, certified pesticide applicator in category 3A, 3C, and 10.
Proficient in MS Office, grant proposal development, grant project management, Adobe Creative Suite, customer service training, organization and scheduling experience, and social media outlets.
