Job Summary:
The customer service associate & library technical assistant has primary responsibility for providing our library users with an excellent library experience, technology check-out, material check-out and in-house computer assistance in person, online and on the phone. Performs technical and physical library work in support of the library’s functions including shelving, pulling materials, using automated library and network systems. Assists the library team in project and routine task work. Provides public relations, informs users on library policy and services, and completes light housekeeping. Shift includes two nights per week 3-7 pm, rotating Friday shift 8 am - 5 pm, and Saturday shifts 9 am - 5 pm.

Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds, stoop, reach, stand, walk, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see, and perform repetitive motions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Position Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1-3 years customer service experience or relevant library experience
Working knowledge of customer service philosophies and principles. Knowledge of academic libraries; printers, computers and a variety of software adapting to changing technology. Ability to interpret user informational inquiries, ability to communicate clearly and appropriately both written and verbal, effective problem solving, and analytical skills. Evidence and skill in organizing and establishing priorities.
Preferred:
- Associates or Bachelors
- Library experience and/or knowledge or familiarity in circulation and the academic user experience
