What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety specialist position at Oklahoma State University?
Assist the Occupational Safety Program Manager in developing and executing health and safety plans at OSU according to legal guidelines.
Primary Responsibilities :
Coordinate and conduct safety training for all employees of the OSU System as needed
Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
Perform periodic inspections and audits of OSU departments.
Investigate accidents or incidents to discover root cause
Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures

Regular exposure to physically demanding and hazardous tasks including walking for long periods of time, bending, stopping, lifting, standing, reaching and climbing stairs / ladders.
Must pass post-offer physical exam and be physically capable of wearing personal protective equipment. Must be able to lift in excess of 30 pounds.
