Job Summary:
Exposure to animal diseases that may be transmitted to humans. Subject to animal scratches or bites. Potential for injury when dealing with aggressive or fractious large animals. Exposed to chemicals, anesthetic agents and pharmaceuticals used in treatment of animals. Mandatory rabies pre-exposure vaccination program. Exposure medical waste, animal feces, urine, blood and vomitus. Exposure to hazardous materials such as chemotherapeutic drugs. Loud noises related to large and small animals are routine.

Required Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED. Two years related experience; or Associate of Science degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program with two years related experience; or Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences or related area; or DVM degree or equivalent.
Experience in restraint of small, administering injections, and placement of IV (peripheral, central, and urinary) catheters is essential. Must have knowledge of equipment used within VTH including, but not limited to personal computer, telephone, copy machine, laser, video endoscope, diagnostic lab equipment, camera/video camera, electrodiagnostic equipment, etc. Must be physically capable of lifting animals weighing 50 pounds or greater onto exam tables and into elevated cages.
Preferred Qualifications:
Veterinary Technology degree. Five years' experience as a Veterinary Technician Specialist recognized by NAVTA or credentials in a specialty that VTH defines as meriting recognition.
Ability to perform assigned tasks independently with minimal supervision.
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS).
