Oklahoma Technical College is seeking a Plumbing Instructor! As a professional in the Plumbing industry you will use your career experience to enhance the education of students for entry-level employment as a Plumber, with a focus on installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems in
accordance with industry safety standards. The Program combines theory with practical hands-on training designed to
simulate the actual work environment and skills needed to excel in this field. Instruction will combine classroom and
hands-on lab training. Instructors are responsible for sound educational practices and the academic development of each
student. Instructors will manage the classroom and lab environment and promote a positive and engaging learning
experience. The Plumbing Instructor must possess highly developed interpersonal skills, good time management and
organizational skills, have energy, creativity and show initiative.

General Department Head Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Have a thorough understanding of the Plumbing Industry
  • Lecture and laboratory instruction focusing on current plumbing industry standards, equipment, safe practices,
    customer service
  • Perform a variety of instructional assistance, tutoring and related support functions if needed
  • Document student grades and attendance within the colleges learning management system and student
    information system
  • Support student retention by reviewing individual completion of learning activities, monitoring attendance and
    contacting students as necessary
  • Prepare students to pursue Plumbing journeymans licensure
  • Become familiar with current accrediting bodies and program societies i.e. ACCSC, CIB, and OSHA
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and other assets pursuant to maintenance, storage and security procedures
  • Evaluate student mastery of skills and competencies required by course outcomes
  • Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational
    structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior
  • Strong desire to see students succeed in the Plumbing industry
  • Work on administrative duties in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Model the College Mission, and CARES philosophy, incorporating professional and ethical standards
  • Advocates for and supports the college through extracurricular activities and attending events and meetings, as
    required (e.g., Graduation Ceremonies, Fundraising events, Open houses, Faculty Forums, Team/Department
    Meetings, etc.)
  • Attend graduation ceremonies and participate in school-sponsored activities
  • Complete a minimum of two professional developments and two in-services
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Reports directly to the Department Head

Education and Experience:

Required

  • Must have a minimum of five years experience in the field of Plumbing, ten years preferred
  • Hold a valid Oklahoma Plumbing Journeymen or Contractors license
  • Be in good standing with the Construction Industries Board of Oklahoma
  • Must be computer literate

Preferred

  • Teaching experience
  • Proficient with Google Workspace
  • Experience with Canvas LMS a plus
