We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer specializing in Computer Vision , Real-Time Image Processing , and Robotics to lead the development of groundbreaking technologies in our seekers, drone, and soldier-borne product lines. As a Level 6 Software Engineer at OKSI, you will spearhead the design and implementation of sophisticated vision and robotics systems, driving innovation and excellence. You will collaborate with top-tier engineers and stakeholders to solve complex challenges, mentor emerging talent, and contribute to projects that have a significant impact on national security and autonomous operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architectural Leadership : Design and architect scalable, high-performance computer vision and real-time image processing systems tailored for seekers, drones, and soldier-borne technologies.
  • End-to-End Development : Lead the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and system design to coding, testing, and deployment of mission-critical applications.
  • Innovation & Research : Stay abreast of the latest advancements in computer vision, machine learning, and robotics. Integrate cutting-edge techniques to enhance product capabilities and maintain OKSI’s competitive edge.
  • Performance Optimization : Ensure real-time performance and reliability of image processing algorithms and robotics systems under demanding operational conditions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with hardware engineers, systems architects, data scientists, and product managers to deliver integrated and high-impact solutions.
  • Mentorship & Leadership : Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Quality Assurance : Establish and uphold best practices for code quality, documentation, and testing to ensure robust and maintainable software.
  • Problem-Solving : Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues related to computer vision and robotics applications in high-stakes environments.
  • Project Management : Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with strategic objectives and mission requirements.

Qualifications

  • Education : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field. A Ph.D. is highly desirable.
  • Experience :
  • 8-10 years of software engineering experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or principal engineering role.

  • Demonstrated expertise in computer vision, real-time image processing, and robotics within defense, aerospace, or related industries.
  • Technical Skills :
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C , Python, and CUDA.

  • Extensive experience with computer vision libraries and frameworks (e.g., OpenCV, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Strong understanding of real-time systems, embedded software, and hardware integration.
  • Familiarity with robotics platforms (e.g., ROS, Gazebo) and related technologies.
  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and their application in vision and robotics.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
  • Soft Skills :
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide engineering teams.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align technical solutions with broader business and mission goals.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degrees : Ph.D. in a relevant field.
  • Publications : Contributions to academic journals or conferences in computer vision, robotics, or related areas.
  • Industry Experience : Experience in defense, autonomous vehicles, manufacturing automation, or augmented reality sectors.
  • Certifications : Relevant professional certifications in software engineering, robotics, or related disciplines.
  • Security Clearance : Possession of an active security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
