Location
We’re seeking a dynamic and motivated contributor to join our team in one of our key office locations: Bellevue. Our interns will be hybrid - sometimes you'll work from home, sometimes you'll work from the office. Managers and their organization will establish the frequency you'll need to go into the office to meet priorities.
About the Internship
The Business Technology (BT) SRE team is looking for a summer intern that is interested to learn more about the underlying systems and automations that help run our corporate Okta ecosystem. The ideal candidate would be interested in the foundational building blocks that allow engineers to create the applications and infrastructure that make Okta tick. If you’ve overclocked a PC, built some automation to turn on your lights, or configured route tables for your home network then consider joining the SRE team and seeing how those ideas work in the corporate world.
The BT SRE team enables engineering teams to build, deploy, and maintain the code and infrastructure used to run Okta. We provide a broad catalog of foundational services, built with a secure and automation first approach. We are a small and mighty agile team that uses AWS, Python, and Terraform to deliver value across Okta. Come join us!
What You’ll Get To Do
- Work with an engineering director and assigned mentor to complete tactical projects.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, write engineering stories, and help prioritize your work.
- Design and implement automations, following SRE best practices and incorporating CI/CD and engineering practices for long term use and scalability.
Who We are Looking For
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields and graduating between December 2025 and June 2026 inclusive.
- Interest in system and platform engineering, using automation to simplify and improve manual processes.
- Interest in foundational DevOps and SRE principles.
- Experience with Python and fundamental object oriented software engineering concepts.
- Familiarity with scripting languages, such as zsh, Bash, or Shell.
- Experience using Git, especially Github, or other VCS to commit, merge, and manage code.
- Experience with basic computer, storage, and networking concepts.
- Previous internship experience (a plus).
- Experience with AWS services, including Lambda, EC2, VPC, and RDS (a plus).
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform (a plus).
- Experience working on projects related to system reliability, automation, or cloud infrastructure (a plus).
Okta’s Intern Program

Our interns have the opportunity to build a strong community - with their fellow interns, within their teams, and with the broader company. We want you to grow professionally and you’ll do that through participating in events like our Executive Speaker Series and Brown Bags. And of course, we want you to have fun too.
