What are the responsibilities and job description for the Meter reader position at Olameter?
All of our field staff are provided with :
- Safety gear including company boot (allowance), vests, glasses, etc.

- Benefits include medical and dental insurance, vacation & holiday pay, K plan with possibility of overtime paid at time and a half
Responsibilities :
This position is responsible for reading water meters and recording volume used by residential and commercial consumers to ensure accurate consumption and billing.
May perform visual meter inspection to assess the condition and overall operation of the meter and note any visible defects or issues.
Requirements :
- Valid driver’s license
- Must successfully pass pre-employment screenings : drug test, background check, and driving record
- Must have access to your own reliable vehicle
- Must be able to walk up to 10-15 miles per day while reading meters accurately
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
Working Conditions and Hours :
- Hours are Monday-Friday from 7am to 3 : 30pm
- After the training period you will be transitioned to piece rate, which allows most of our employees to earn up to $15.00 / hour!
- Outdoor work environment
- Normal working hours are daylight hours; limited work hours on weekends except for periodic on-call duty and mass workloads
- Little supervision to give you freedom to work independently and manage your own day
Knowledge and Abilities :
- Successfully complete the company’s training program and pass applicable written and field tests
