POSITION TITLE : Alternative Education Aide II
DEPARTMENT / LOCATION : Mill Creek Campus
STATUS : Classified - Non-Exempt, Full Time
HOURS OF WORK : Monday-Friday, 7.5 hours per day during the school year
STARTING PAY : $18.84
POSITION SUMMARY :
OCL is an alternative education program for students 10-12th grade all Mill Creek Campus. This position students in the program and in their online classes. The AEA partners with and reports to the OCL teacher in promoting and managing the program.
PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Positively represent the district with clear written and oral communication in fielding online, phone, and in-person inquiries from internal and external parties (e.g., staff, parents, students, public etc.) about the OCL program;
- Work with the OCL teacher to enroll new students;
- Provide primary management of the OCL online class program ("Edgenuity") :
Enroll students in classes;
Track their progress;Contact and encourage students who lag behind completion targets;Submit completed credits to the building registrar for transcription;Instruct and support students in the online curriculum when they are in the computer labWork with the OCL teacher to support students in their high school level classes, including English / language arts, math (algebra & geometry), social studies, science, and electives;Coordinate students, teachers and technical support personnel in maintaining computer lab operations and ensuring compliance with district policies and procedures;Maintain computer hardware and software applications, troubleshooting technical problems as needed, for the purpose of ensuring availability and proper working conditions of equipment and lab areas;Assist the OCL teacher with administrative tasks;Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.Education and Experience Requirements :
High school diploma or equivalent;Associate's degree preferred;Job related experience is preferred.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills;Excellent personal relationship skills with high school youth.High degree of customer service and interpersonal aptitude;High degree of motivation and responsibility;Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously;Ability to compile, organize, and analyze data;Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment;Highly collaborative team player;Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.);Ability to quickly learn and manage new software applications;Ability to self-initiate areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement, and follow up as necessary to achieve desired results.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : This position requires the performance of sedentary work. The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and / or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, and / or crouching, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean, healthy, and hazard-free environment.
