POSITION TITLE : Instructional Aide ELL
DEPARTMENT : SUPPORT / Mill Creek Campus
STATUS : Classified - Non Exempt
HOURS OF WORK : Monday-Friday - 7.0 hours per day
STARTING SALARY : $15.00 hourly
POSITION SUMMARY : This position is responsible for providing additional educational support to students who are enrolled in the Cornerstone program. The position works closely and under the supervision of the Cornerstone program facilitator. The position requires traveling to Mill Creek and other schools throughout the district.
PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Meets with students in small groups or individually for the purpose of working on specific areas of need.
- Assist in the grade monitoring and attendance of students in the Cornerstone Program in high school.
- Meets with families of new enrollees to assist with enrollment and school placement.
- Assists the program facilitator with projects and other tasks.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and / or present information to others; and
understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to
codes / laws / rules / regulations / policies; curriculum and instructional methods; English grammar / punctuation /
and safety practices.
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to
meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of
the job include : administer first aid; customer service; effective listening; instructional techniques; interpersonal
aptitude; managing projects / programs; and office practices.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather and / or collate data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is
required to work with others; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using
and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select
action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with
equipment is limited. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job
prioritization; reliability; taking initiative; teamwork; willingness to learn effective instructional strategies; and meeting
schedules / deadlines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
This position requires the performance of light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and / or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The position typically involves 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. The position requires visual acuity as well as frequent hearing and talking and some crouching, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and significant fine finger dexterity. This position is performed in an indoor and generally hazard free environment.
