What are the responsibilities and job description for the Benefits Advisor/Social Worker position at Old Colony Elder Services?
OCES aims to support elders and persons with disabilities by providing vital information and coordination of services that promote healthy and safe living for our consumers.
Join our team as a Benefits Advisor and support our consumers by providing information about available benefits and supports. Assist applicants and OCES staff on MassHealth coverage, eligibility and enrollment matters.

What you will do:
- Provide information to consumers and OCES staff about the full range of insurance programs offered by EOHHS and Medicare.gov
- Maintain certification requirements
- Assist individuals with completion of Medicaid applications, renewals and other required documentation and facilitate enrollment
- Provide guidance to consumers regarding available benefits
- Make home visits as required
- Provide timely assistance to OCES staff on consumer benefit matters
- Complete and maintain documentation
- Interpret the agency's programs and services to the community; participate in outreach activities
What you will bring:
- A passion for helping others and a desire to make a difference!
- Bachelor's Degree (related)
- Minimum of two years' experience coordinating benefits
- Social Work License (LSW or higher) preferred
- SHINE and AIRS certifications preferred
- Working knowledge of procedures and practices related to available health insurance benefits
