Program Responsibilities
- Arrive on deck, in uniform, ready to open pool promptly at scheduled time.
- Explain class and pool procedure to program participants, enforcing all posted pool rules.
- Provide friendly courteous service to all members, clients and volunteers of the YMCA.
- Report all accidents and incidents to supervisor on appropriate forms.
- Administer and log all Ellis required documentation, including but not limited to, Oxygen and Emergency Equipment, AED Inspections, VAT's, Chemical Logs
- Chemical testing and documentation
- Supervise lifeguards to ensure compliance with Ellis and Associates policies and inform the Aquatics Coordinator of any concerns or non-compliance.
- Supervise swim instructors to ensure smooth operation of swim lesson programming.
- Facilitate guard coverage for call outs and shift changes
- Properly test water for chemical balance and record at assigned times. Report any problems immediately to Aquatics Director.
- Check all safety equipment at the beginning of the shift, reporting any problems in writing to supervisor.
- Follow daily maintenance schedule as assigned including hosing deck, brushing down pool walls, cleaning staff office, reporting all problems in writing to supervisor.
- Maintain highest level of cleanliness in pool area.
- Minimum 18 years old
- 1-3 years related experience
- Current Lifeguard certification with Ellis and Associates and current certification in CPR, First Aid, AED and Supplemental Oxygen Support or ability to recertify if previously held a lifeguard certification
- Ellis Lifeguard Trainer preferred, however, will train/certify the right candidate.
- Experience in teaching swim lessons and managing swim lesson programs is preferred.
- WSI certification preferred.
- Must be able to perform all physical tasks of a Lifeguard as well as lift an adult male from the pool onto the pool deck.
