Summary
Oversees the process of dispensing of medication(s) to patients pursuant to a valid prescription with the highest attention to accuracy and patient education. Responsible for the daily operations of the pharmacy department. Communicates with prescribers and offers counseling and assistance to patients with their health care concerns. Participates in patient centered services such as immunizations and MTM (Medication Therapy Management). Provides friendly, helpful, and efficient service to all Old Corner Drug customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Complies with all applicable federal, state laws, pharmacy regulations, and company policies. Prepares and dispenses prescription medications, including maintenance of necessary records, accurate third party adjudication and patient charges, and inventory management. Counsels patients and medical providers regarding the nature and use of drugs, dosage, drug interactions, and side effects, as well as, monitors the health and progress of patients to ensure compliance and to optimize therapies. Participates in patient centered services including immunization, MTM, and wellness programs. Supervises personnel in the daily operations of the pharmacy department and holds them accountable for complying with regulatory and company policies. Provides guidance and training to pharmacy interns, technicians, and pharmacy associates during the course of work and monitors performance. Uses professional judgment in providing exemplary service within the pharmacist’s scope of practice. Completes required continuing education programs as required by state law. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
Licensed and registered Pharmacist in good standing within the state of practice. Immunization Certification preferred. Ability to communicate effectively: verbal, written and electronic. Strong decision-making skills. Strong leadership skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Good analytical skills. Ability to manage others. Ability to resolve customer issues quickly and creatively in order to improve customer satisfaction. Ability to assign, prioritize, and evaluate the work of others. General knowledge of pharmacy computer systems and automated dispensing systems. Experience and/or training in non-sterile and/or sterile compounding is a plus.
