We are currently seeking an experienced Safety Officer to lead all company safety, quality and environmental programs. This includes monitoring programs, conducting training sessions, promoting policies and processes for safety along with adherence to state and federal guidelines including but not limited to OSHA, DOT, and EPA. As a crucial member of the ODM team, your responsibilities will include managing safety and occupational health, conducting inspections, providing site safety orientation, delivering activity-specific training, and ensuring compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the planning and implementation of safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
- Establish organizational policies and interpret, execute, and recommend the development of and modifications to the Safety, Quality, and Environmental policies of the Company.
- Maintain safety procedure manuals, OSHA and Construction industry standards.
- Understand operational characteristics of the business and promote safety directives.
- Embody and represent safety culture, communication and safety reporting.
- Educate the team on safety procedures and ensure they are being followed.
- Analyze accident reports and evaluate injury case studies based on available facts.
- Travel around jobsites ensuring those on site are adhering to safety practices and wearing appropriate PPE.
- Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections and in any procedures that may follow a citation, investigates, prepares, and forwards all reports.
- Conducts safe work procedures training courses.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in safety (EHS) or related technical field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a lead safety role with a large construction or MEP company.
- Extensive knowledge and/or experience with the rules and regulations of Workers Comp, OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and the EPA.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- OSHA 30hr (preference given to those with OSHA 500hr)
- Must be able to meet critical deadlines.
- Must be able to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screen, and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required (i.e. DMV, criminal history)
- Must adhere to all company policy and procedures.
- Must be available to work assigned schedules.
