Old Dominion University (ODU) seeks a skilled IT professional to implement and manage secure infrastructure for handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) using virtualization and devops technologies. This role is critical in ensuring ODU's compliance with federal regulations while enabling secure communication and collaboration for both internal and external users. This position requires a thorough understanding of CUI handling requirements and the ability to implement complex security solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both virtualization, container and devops technologies, with the ability to navigate the unique challenges of securing sensitive information in a higher education setting.
Job Responsibilities:- Design, implement, and maintain a CUI-compliant network infrastructure
- Configure and maintain on-premises development and lab environment
- Configure and maintain virtualization and container based orchestration environments
- Establish and enforce access controls and multi-factor authentication
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Provide training to staff on CUI handling procedures and secure communication practices
- Collaborate with compliance officers to ensure adherence to NIST SP 800-171 guidelines
- Manage and monitor network segmentation for CUI data
- Respond to and mitigate security incidents related to CUI handling
- Implement and maintain data loss prevention (DLP) policies
Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field. 5 years of experience in IT security and network administration. Proven experience with virtualization technologies such as Vmware, Nutanix or Hyper-V; experience using container orchestration systems such as Kubernetes; experience with automation and orchestration systems in an enterprise environment; experience managing Windows and Linux operating systems; experience with devops tools such as Ansible, Packer and Git; strong knowledge of NIST SP 800-171 requirements and CUI handling procedures; experience implementing and managing email encryption solutions; familiarity with cloud security principles and practices; excellent problem-solving and communication skills; experience with scripting tools including python and powershell.
U.S. citizen, qualify for Tier 2, National Security Clearance for Secret Information.
Preferred qualifications: CompTIA Security or equivalent security certification; Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure and GCP; familiarity with CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification) requirements; experience with third-party security tools integration (e.g., SIEM, EDR); background in higher education IT environments. CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certification. Experience dealing with multiple tasks, working with stakeholders in federal government and contractors.
