What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Scholar 25-013 position at Old Dominion University Research Foundation?
The postdoctoral scholar is a research position, focusing on drug discovery, molecular biology, pharmacology, and/or drug mechanistic studies. The job may entail a training component to work with students and/or learners.
Job Responsibilities: Assist with certain training tasks of students, residents, and/or fellows.Conduct research of mechanism(s) of novel drug discovery with supervisor’s input.
Assist with the research grants preparation.
Assist with research result summary and presentation.
Maintain detailed and comprehensive research notes and record.
Take the initiative in problem solving and troubleshooting of experimental difficulties.
Education and/or training: Doctoral Degree in a scientific area, preferably biochemistry
Level and type of experience: Preferred two (2) years of experience in a relevant research field with experience in the design and conduct of biochemistry and molecular biology research. Remains up to date on relevant advancement of research topic areas.

- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and statistical analysis.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include 20/40 vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work is primarily indoors, but requires the incumbent to be in an outdoor environment when traveling between campus buildings or off campus when needed. Travel to satellite offices in the Hampton Roads area may be required as needed.
Standard office hours are M-F 8:00am to 5:00pm, however, work after hours will be required to meet the demands of
the position during peak times.
