Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: 2:00PM - 10:00PM
Job Description: It is the Potato Receiver’s job to unload potato & unload or load oil. Generate potato & oil test samples for acceptance, collect and record required physical data, move potato truck trailers as necessary to unload potatoes, communicate with potato truck drivers, load starch totes in a semi-trailer when needed, perform all tasks necessary to unload oil cars, and keep all areas associated with unloading free of potato debris. Perform weekly cleaning of potato unloading and warehouse areas.
Key Job Duties:
1) The Potato Unloader collects the required paperwork from truck drivers associated with incoming loads of potatoes.
2) The Potato Unloader backs semi-truck trailers onto the unload lift.
3) The Potato Unloader collects 1-2 buckets of potatoes, gathers physical data, prepares the potatoes for sampling & collects the finished potato chip sample.
4) The Potato Unloader collects and brings all potato and oil samples to the lab to determine acceptance before unloading.
5) The Potato Unloader enters all required load information into the computer before unloading oil or potatoes & attaches work order to it.
6) The Potato Unloader performs all preparations associated with unloading potatoes or oil.
7) The Potato Unloader sweeps out empty trailers after unloading.
8) The Potato Unloader is required to operate a forklift to empty full potato waste hoppers, load starch totes in a semi-trailer as needed, and perform other duties requiring the use of a forklift as assigned by the Supervisor.
9) The Potato Unloader is responsible for housekeeping in the potato warehouse, unloading dock, outside dock area, tank room, boiler room and above the boiler room, which includes end of week clean-up.
10) Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Job Qualifications: A qualified person for this job must physically be able to perform all essential functions of this job, drive and back up a semi tractor-trailer combination, have a valid driver’s license, become a certified forklift driver, read and complete all necessary paperwork in a legible manner, be computer literate and have an excellent attendance record.
Essential job functions:
1) Drive and backup semi tractor-trailer combinations day and night, and in various weather conditions.
2) Perform necessary paperwork in a legible manner
3) Read invoices.
4) Drive a forklift.
5) Climb ladders and stairs.
6) Cautiously Work or Walk on slippery surfaces.
7) Reach out and grasp continuously while collecting potato test samples, 25% of the workday.
8) Perform basic computer and data entry tasks.
9) Work in a hot, humid or cold environment.
10) Work in a noisy, wet, dusty and odorous environment.
11) Work or walk on an elevated surface (catwalks, railcar, etc.).
12) Lift up to 30 lbs (bucket of potatoes), and carry it up stairs. Shovel potatoes off floor.
13) Hear and communicate respectfully with others in noise, to insure quality and safety.
14) Work within and have knowledge of all safety policies pertaining to your job.
15) Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
16) Work 40 hours per week or more if overtime.
17) Dependable attendance.
