What are the responsibilities and job description for the Golf Shop Attendant position at OLD EDWARDS CLUB?
The Golf Shop Attendant is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere and warm, friendly ambiance for Members and Guests. They will ensure cleanliness and organization of the Golf Shop, answer the phone and make tee time reservations and provide an accurate and professional check in and check out process.
Responsibilities
- Greet each Member or Guest as they enter the Shop. Use their name, if known, and ascertain their needs as they enter
- Remain calm throughout check in and check out processes, no matter how hectic the situation.
- Assist the Golf Professional staff with charging the appropriate golf fees to member accounts, hotel rooms, credit cards, etc.
- Communicate clearly with team members and relay golfer needs to the appropriate Outside Service staff or Golf Professional
- Offer assistance to shoppers and make their experience priority. Up-sell, cross-sell and special order any item not currently in stock that the shopper desires
- Make tee time reservations, book lessons/club fittings, and sign Members up for club events/tournaments
- Answer and interact with Members and Guests on the phone using appropriate phone etiquette, as defined by company standard.
- Ensure the Golf Shop looks clean and orderly. Straighten, fold, tuck-in labels, restock, etc. as shoppers depart
- Track inventory levels and alert the Golf Shop Manager of items needing to be reordered, as necessary
- Receive, tag and enter new merchandise into Jonas. Display new items once they are in the system
- Due to the nature of this position, confidentiality is required at all times.
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the Head Golf Professional
- Previous retail experience preferred. Knowledge of the game of golf preferred
- Must be customer service oriented, professional, and able to work independently or part of a team
- Must have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations and resolve guest issues to satisfactory results
- Basic computer knowledge required. Ability to learn POS and tee time reservation software required.
- Must have ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to type, write, file, etc. The employee is also regularly required to stand, walk the property, climb stairs and sit for periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
