Job Summary
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive food, health and safety programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role involves fostering a culture of safety within the organization, minimizing risks, and promoting occupational health. The EHS Manager will work closely with various departments to identify hazards, conduct training sessions, and facilitate continuous improvement in safety practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement EHS and Food Safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance with health and safety standards.
- Lead investigations of incidents and accidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Provide training development for employees on safety practices, emergency response, first aid, CPR, and other relevant topics.
- Collaborate with management to promote a culture of food safety and safety awareness throughout the organization.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and compliance reports.
- Manage workers' compensation claims and coordinate with insurance providers as necessary.
- Stay updated on industry trends and changes in regulations related to occupational health and safety.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in EHS management or a similar role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA guidelines, and workers' compensation processes.
- Certification in First Aid/CPR is preferred; additional certifications related to EHS are a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to train employees at all levels effectively.
- Proficient in conducting root cause analysis to identify hazards and implement preventive measures.
- Ability to fabricate solutions for unique safety challenges as they arise.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining documentation and compliance records.
