As a Dredge Operator, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating and maintaining dredging equipment to extract sand and gravel materials from designated areas. This position requires a strong understanding of dredge operation, routine maintenance, and a commitment to workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions]
- Operate ladder and chain dredges to extract sand and gravel material.
- Monitor and adjust dredge operations to ensure optimal material production and equipment performance.
- Conduct routine inspections and perform basic maintenance on dredging equipment.
- Coordinate with plant personnel to meet production goals and ensure seamless material flow.
- Record daily production metrics and maintain accurate logs.
- Identify and resolve operational issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Work in a constate state of alertness and in a safe manner
- Frequent standing, walking, bending over, climbing, reaching overhead, kneeling, balancing, pushing, or pulling, talking/communication, repetitive use of legs, lifting up to 50 lbs., carrying up to 75 lbs
- Performs other duties as directed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with hydraulics and electrical systems related to dredge equipment.
- Knowledge of dredge pump systems and materials handling.
- Certifications related to heavy equipment or dredge operations (a plus).
- Proven experience operating ladder and chain dredges in a sand and gravel or similar operation.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs.
- Familiarity with dredge controls, sonar systems, and production metrics.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safety and environmental standards.
- MSHA safety training will be provided
- Flexibility in daily task is required
