Job Title: Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technician in Training
Job Summary:We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technician in Training. This entry-level position is designed for individuals who are interested in gaining hands-on experience and developing skills necessary for maintaining and operating water and wastewater treatment facilities. Under the guidance of experienced technician, the trainee will receive on-the-job training to assist in the upkeep, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment and systems that ensure the safe and efficient treatment of water and wastewater.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the maintenance, repair, and inspection of water and wastewater treatment equipment, including pumps, motors, pipes, valves, and filtration systems.
- Perform routine inspections of treatment plants and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Monitor and record operational data, including water quality parameters, flow rates, and system pressures.
- Assist in cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining pumps, machinery, and electrical components.
- Troubleshoot and identify equipment malfunctions, and assist senior technicians with necessary repairs and replacements.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and records of all work completed.
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of wastewater collection systems and water distribution systems.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures when working with hazardous materials and equipment.
- Participate in training programs and workshops to develop knowledge of water and wastewater operations.
- Work alongside experienced technicians to learn industry-specific techniques, standards, and regulations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong interest in learning about water/wastewater maintenance and operations.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and take direction from senior technicians.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and handle hazardous materials safely.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Must be willing to undergo training and certification in water/wastewater operations as required.
- Must be willing to alternate in an on-call shift every 3rd week.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and after hours as required.
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
