Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Underwriting the Associate Underwriter will be responsible for performing general account maintenance, loss analysis and will be granted limited underwriting authority. This role will also be responsible for issuing/reviewing renewal IM accounts, clearing submissions, account modeling, and inputting exposure information into ORIM’s policy management system to prepare new business quotes for the senior underwriting team. All other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions:
- Evaluate new submissions for completeness; request information as needed and communicate to senior underwriters and brokers the need for additional information (exposure, loss and general account data, etc.)
- Management of existing Inland Marine underwriting portfolio including day to day account management responsibilities for Inland marine, including but not limited to; Endorsement activities (Premium bearing and manuscript), Policy review for accuracy, and other portfolio management duties
- Review and determine accuracy of bound accounts, file upkeep across the assigned portfolio
- Assist with the set up and tracking of assignments for all accounts.
- Renewable account management at the direction of the Underwriting Team
- Develop key relationships and provide support to ORIM underwriting and operations teams.
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of commercial insurance experience.
- Strong planning and organization skills; ability to maintain accurate records.
- Strong communication skills on multiple platforms.
- Ability to multi-task paired with strong time management skills.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
- Must be able to make informed decisions and effectively meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail; accurate proofreading skills.
- Flexibility and tenacity; Ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Superior technical skills
- Travel as required
