Location : Chicago, IL (Hybrid 3 days in office)

Position Overview :

The Vice President of AI & Generative AI (Gen AI) will drive strategy and execution of AI initiatives across the company. This role is crucial in ensuring that AI and Gen AI initiatives align with the company’s strategic goals, analyses are communicated effectively, and budgets and resources are allocated appropriately. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of AI and Gen AI applications with a passion to develop cross-departmental collaboration between ORI and the subsidiary companies, delivering impactful AI and Gen AI solutions.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Lead and execute the organization’s AI activities in alignment with the enterprise’s AI / Gen AI strategy objectives.
  • Facilitate communication between stakeholders to definite and monitor project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with the AI Steering Committee to coordinate and prioritize Gen AI initiatives, ensuring resource allocation aligns with organizational goals.
  • Staying up-to-date on emerging Gen AI trends and assessing their potential impact on the organization.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages Gen AI innovation, knowledge-sharing, and cross-functional integration.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and data privacy standards in all Generative AI initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison between technical teams (e.g., Data Science, IT) and business units to ensure Gen AI projects meet organizational needs.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of Gen AI projects, resolving roadblocks as they arise.
  • Serve as the primary Gen AI advocate, driving awareness and adoption of Gen AI technologies across the enterprise and subsidiary operating companies (SOCs).
  • Develop enterprise Gen AI Training Program and knowledge sharing activities.
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary team of Gen AI professionals, including data scientists, engineers, and analysts (as needed).
  • Additional job functions will be necessary for the success of this role.

Key Deliverables :

  • Assess existing business problems and proactively identify areas where Gen AI can improve efficiency or deliver new value to the business.
  • Establish project management best practices for Gen AI development and deployment.
  • Define success metrics for Gen AI initiatives and ensure consistent delivery of business value.
  • Develop and enforce policies to ensure responsible and ethical use of AI.
  • Develop Gen AI training program content / agenda and deliver Gen AI training (independently or via an external delivery partner).
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in AI, data science, or related fields, including leadership roles.
  • Strong understanding of AI, machine learning and Generative AI technologies, tools, and applications
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects.
  • Robust interpersonal skills and ability to work across organization and senior leaders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to align technical initiatives with business objectives to drive tangible outcomes.
  • Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and ethical considerations in AI deployment.
  • Experience in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Lean).
  • Knowledge of enterprise-level data infrastructure & tools (cloud platforms, data visualization tools).
