Position Overview
The Nutrition Staff Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and service of the school kitchen while adhering to state and local health and safety regulations. This position oversees food production, ordering, and recordkeeping to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations while providing appealing and nutritious meals to students. The role also ensures the cafeteria's smooth and efficient operation to support students' health, comfort, and well-being. In addition to hands-on responsibilities in the kitchen, this position includes supervisory responsibilities for staff.

About the School
Old Sturbridge Academy Charter Public School opened in 2017 and serves 360 students in grades kindergarten through eighth. Responsibilities
- Oversee the overall operations of the kitchen, including all cost and budget maintenance.
- Manage the preparation and service of meals for a population of 360 students in accordance with USDA guidelines. Assist with food preparation and cooking during high-volume periods.
- Ensure the kitchen meets all sanitary standards.
- Coordinate cooking and prepping of the skillet station according to the production schedule.
- Maintain accurate recordkeeping and logs.
- Supervise and mentor the nutrition team to meet standards set forth by management.
- Ensure proper portion sizes and compliance with NSLP and SBP requirements in collaboration with department staff.
- Assist the Director of Food Services in providing leadership to ensure a secure work environment, particularly during emergencies or crises.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of high-volume school/education food service management experience.
- ServSafe Certification (Required).
- Allergen Certificate (Required).
- CPR/First Aid Certification (Required).
- Knowledge of food preparation and nutrition requirements.
- Proficiency in recipe procedures, measurement conformity, and cooking techniques.
- Familiarity with food service sanitation standards, including procedures to prevent contamination, spoilage, and waste.
- Experience using a Point of Sale system and register.
- Strong team supervision skills.
- Ability to adapt to changes and take initiative when leading staff.
- Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Basic computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and web-based applications.
- Willingness to learn new software programs.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.
