Summary: The Old Town School of Folk Music seeks a substitute Brazilian Dance instructor to teach classes at its Lincoln Square and Lincoln Park locations.
Location: Lincoln Square and Lincoln Park
Schedule: Saturdays, Mondays, and Wednesdays mostly
Responsibilities:
Facilitate Brazilian dance classes as needed that highlight Brazilian styles such as Samba, Forró, Axé, and other traditional or contemporary forms.
Support inclusive, engaging lesson plans that accommodate a range of skill levels from beginners to advanced dancers.
Follow existing lesson structures or adapt to ongoing class dynamics, ensuring sessions are engaging and accessible to all skill levels.
Step in for regular instructors and assist with ongoing instruction, occasionally guiding students through informal practice showings or demonstrations.
Skills/Qualifications:
Proficient in Brazilian dance styles, including Samba, Forró, Axé, and other traditional and contemporary Brazilian dances
Minimum two years of teaching experience preferred
Experience teaching Brazilian dance classes preferred
High level of dance technique and personal responsibility
Ability to teach beginners through advanced levels required
Ability to teach students of all ages, from young children to adults
Knowledge of diverse dance styles and fitness routines preferred
Ability to teach online a plus
Must be able work Saturdays, Mondays, and Wednesdays as needed
