This opportunity is for a Psychiatric Technician . We are seeking FT and PT staff.

  • FT staff work two weekdays (12-hour shifts) and every other weekend (12-hour shifts) 7pm - 7am
  • PT staff work one weekday (12-hour shift) and one weekend day (12-hour shift) either 7pm - 7am
  • PT staff work every Saturday & Sunday 7pm - 7am

Our 164-bed inpatient services for adolescents through senior adulthood offers comprehensive and individual assessments, psychiatric evaluation and medication stabilization, daily group therapy and personalized aftercare planning. We also offer a Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program to ensure the continuum of care for our patients. What do Psychiatric/Mental Health Technicians do at Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services?

Psychiatric Techs provide direct care to adolescent and/or adult patients with psychiatric disorders, to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient(s). Psychiatric Techs have the primary responsibility for ensuring the patient's safety on the unit utilizing a therapeutic approach to all tasks including assistance with daily living activities, facilitation of skill-building groups, assisting in the intake and discharge process, and enforcement of hospital and unit rules intended to keep the patients, staff, and visitors safe.

Required Education:

Bachelor's degree in health or human services OR

Required Experience:

If no degree, three years prior psychiatric experience required.

Required Licensure/Certification:

CPR Certification preferred.

Required Skills:

Human behavior or principles of psychology preferred including therapeutic relationships & processes, age specific growth & development, limit setting, crisis & behavior management.

Physical Requirements:

Requires sufficient body mobility to accomplish essential functions. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel with ease. Requires walking and standing often. Requires frequently speaking on the telephone. Able to write legibly and grammatically to convey patient behavior and information in the patient chart. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Communicating fluently and effectively both verbally and in writing in English. Ability to perform CPI physical, verbal and non-verbal techniques. Ability to appropriately interact with all program staff, patients, visitors, attending physicians, and other department representatives.
