What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ranch/Farm Hand position at Oleen Brothers?
Oleen Brothers registered Angus and Hereford cow/calf ranch is currently looking for a full-time ranch/farm hand. We are located near Dwight in the Northeastern Flint Hills of Kansas and run approximately 700-750 cow/calf pairs. We also farm approximately 1500 acres of row crop and run a registered AQHA horse program. Job duties include: calving, processing, feeding and care of registered and commercial cow calf pairs, use and maintenance of farm and hay equipment, burning and spraying of pasture, handling, roping and moving of cattle horseback, hauling grain and cattle with semis, preparing and prepping for a yearly production sale, and building and maintenance of fence and corrals.
Mechanical and horsemanship skills are a definite plus. This is not a cowboy only position; horsework is a part of what we do but not all that we do. Some days require riding a tractor or building and maintenance around the ranch. Applicants must be honest, on time, self-motivated, and able to follow directions. Hours can be long with some weeks being 70 depending on the season. Salary is negotiable based on experience and references.
Additional benefits include housing, your own work truck, as well as sides of beef throughout the year. This is a family-run business, and we encourage individuals with families to apply.
