Job Description
We are seeking Experienced Nurse Practitioners to join the motivated, caring staff on the ICU, Working closely in a collaborative team with an intensivist, a hospitalist and other disciplines
Duties include Care of hospitalized adults: Including medical, surgical and telemetry patients admitted to the ICU
This position provides Daily medical care of patients in the Medicine Intensive Care Unit including assessment, diagnosis, pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, bedside procedures, and family centered care of patients and their families.
Works closely with faculty, fellows, residents and nursing staff to develop and coordinate a plan of care to meet the needs of the patient and their families
Performs history and physical examinations, formulation of care plans, ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests and provides education to patients and their families.
Document clinical encounters clearly, precisely and in a timely manner.
Coordinate the care of patients in order to provide safe, effective, efficient and timely patient centered care.
Liaise between visiting nurses, clinical staff and consult services. Care plans and execution of those plans should encompass the entire service to tie the service together.
Consult with physicians or surgeons regarding the care of patients for more complex diagnosis. Act as an educator and serves as a clinical resource for staff through consultation formal and informal education
Experience with Central Line Placement, Arterial Lines and Airway Management experienced required setting is required
Choice of Day or Night Shift working 3 – 12 hour shifts per week; Rotating Weekend coverage no more than two weekends/ month
