Principle Function
Olive Baptist Church is building a ministry team that endeavors to fulfill this mission: Olive Baptist Church exists to develop fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. The Director of Women’s Ministry plays a vital role in discipling women, equipping female leaders, and assisting Olive’s community of women to belong, connect, grow, and impact their community in Jesus’s name.
Primary Responsibilities
Overview: We are seeking a passionate and visionary Director of Women's Ministry to lead and nurture the spiritual growth of women within our church community. This leadership role requires a deep commitment to Christ, love for Olive Baptist Church, strong organizational skills, and the ability to inspire and empower women in their spiritual journeys.
1. Visioning and Strategy:
- Develop and articulate a compelling vision for the women's ministry that aligns with the overall mission of the church and biblical truth.
- Create strategic goals and objectives to achieve the vision, ensuring they are measurable and actionable.
- Collaborate with church leadership to integrate the women's ministry vision into the broader church strategy.
2. Leadership and Team Building:
- Recruit, train, and mentor a team of volunteers to assist in various aspects of the women's ministry.
- Provide spiritual leadership and pastoral care to women within the ministry, fostering a supportive and inclusive community.
- Empower and delegate responsibilities effectively, ensuring that each team member operates in their strengths.
3. Program Development and Implementation:
- Design and implement a diverse range of programs and events that nurtures and strengthens women in their relationship both with the Lord and the world in which God has uniquely made each person to minister to others.
- Plan and oversee Bible studies, retreats, workshops, and outreach initiatives that promote spiritual growth and fellowship.
- Evaluate program effectiveness regularly and make adjustments as needed to enhance impact and engagement.
4. Communication and Collaboration:
- Serve as a liaison between the women's ministry and other church ministries, promoting collaboration and unity.
- Communicate effectively with church leadership, providing updates on ministry activities, needs, and successes.
- Utilize various communication channels to keep women informed and engaged in ministry events and opportunities.
- Relay pertinent information to Comms Team, Finance Team, Maintenance, and Housekeeping Teams.
5. Pastoral Care and Counseling:
- Provide pastoral care and support to women facing personal challenges, offering prayer, guidance, and encouragement.
- Facilitate and/or administrate the creation of small groups or one-on-one discipleship relationships to foster spiritual growth and accountability.
- Manage life stage ministries or groups such as widow’s ministry, cancer support group, or other support groups
6. Leadership Development:
- Identify, recruit and help train ladies in intentional and relational ministry and effective disciple-making
- Meet regularly with leaders to encourage and equip them to serve
- Model relational ministry for the leaders
7. Administration:
- Oversee staff, purchases, source management, and budget lines related to women’s ministry
8. Other:
- Attend and serve at congregational events outside of Women’s Ministry as requested by pastoral leadership
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- A deep personal commitment to and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and above reproach walk with the Lord
- Joyful submission to the leadership of Olive Baptist Church and must be (or become) a member of the church
- Agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message (2000)
- Previous experience in ministry leadership, particularly in women's ministry or a related field.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
- A collaborative and relational approach to leadership, with the ability to build and maintain effective teams.
- A heart for those who have not yet trusted in Christ
- Bachelor’s degree in theology, ministry, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
Additional Information:
- This position may require occasional evening and weekend availability to accommodate ministry events and activities.
- Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- Full Time: Approximately 40 hours per week
- Currently a 20 hr assistant reports to this director.
