Olive & Cocoa is seeking a Web Developer to take primary ownership of our e-commerce website, ensuring its success by maintaining optimal performance, usability, and overall user experience. The ideal candidate will be proactive in managing all aspects of the website, from performance optimization to developing new features, and will be the key point of contact for web-related projects. This is a full-time, on-site position at our Salt Lake City location. A web coding practical test will be part of the interview process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assume primary ownership of the e-commerce website, taking responsibility for its overall performance, functionality, and success.
- Maintain and optimize the website’s performance, ensuring fast load times, smooth functionality, and an exceptional user experience.
- Develop, test, and troubleshoot using HTML and CSS to enhance website features and functionality.
- Coordinate seasonal home page updates, collaborating with graphic designers to ensure timely upload of new items, product images, and content.
- Follow up with content providers to ensure accurate and updated product details and descriptions are added to the site.
- Work closely with our eCommerce platform partner to develop and implement new site features and functionality, ensuring the website continues to evolve and meet customer needs.
- Monitor and remediate ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliance findings, ensuring that the website remains accessible to all users. Experience with ADA compliance tools is a plus.
- Work with marketing to implement A/B testing to assess website improvements and user experience enhancements.
- Integrate and manage website tracking using Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics.
- Implement search engine optimization (SEO) strategies, including optimizing meta tags, keyword usage, and content structure.
- Collaborate with the design and marketing teams to ensure seamless web integration and cohesive brand representation.
- Use performance monitoring tools to track site speed and implement optimization techniques, such as lazy loading, image compression, and reducing unnecessary scripts.
- Stay updated on web development trends, SEO best practices, and changes in web technologies.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and web design principles.
- Experience with A/B testing methodologies and tools.
- Strong knowledge of Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics.
- Expertise in search engine optimization (SEO) techniques, including on-page SEO and meta-tag implementation.
- Familiarity with performance optimization techniques (minimizing CSS/JavaScript, browser caching, etc.).
- Strong understanding of web integration practices and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to coordinate and manage updates to the site’s content, collaborating with multiple departments.
- Understanding of ADA compliance for web accessibility and experience remediating non-compliance issues. Familiarity with ADA compliance tools is a plus.
- Ability to work closely with external eCommerce platform partners for the continuous development of new website features and improvements.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- JavaScript and basic knowledge of front-end frameworks like Bootstrap or jQuery.
- Familiarity with e-commerce platforms (such as CommerceV3, Shopify, or Magento).
- Experience working with version control systems such as Git.
- Knowledge of back-end development languages (PHP, Python).
- Responsive web design techniques and cross-browser compatibility testing.
Experience Required:
- 5 years of experience in web development, with a focus on e-commerce websites.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Web Development, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to web performance and accessibility best practices.
- Self-motivated and able to take full responsibility for ensuring the success of the website.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and effectively communicate with cross-functional teams.
