Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Youth Mentor to join our Adoption Promotion and Support Services team. The Mentor will partner with pre- or post-adoptive clients and parents to offer encouragement and support before, during and/or after the adoption process. This position requires a commitment to fostering positive relationships, promoting personal growth, and ensuring the well-being of those in our care.
- Offer insight into the adoption process.
- Share personal experiences through informal relationship, trainings and consults
- Team with the Case Manager to identify/support referrals to necessary community resources.
- Offer general assistance through the adoption process.
- Willingness and availability to meet with clients in the community, but could be by phone, email or virtual technology, at least 1x per month; must meet face-to-face with clients at least 1x per quarter.
Requirements
- Must have had personal experience with foster care or adoption, preferably through the dependency system.
- For adoptees, if experience is residing in foster care without the outcome of adoption, must have resided in the foster care system for at least three years and have had a positive experience of/with adoption.
- Must demonstrate ability to manage impact of personal adoption narrative as to allow healthy and helpful support to assigned clients.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
