Business Development Manager
Position Summary
The Business Development Manager will be instrumental in driving the growth of our food packaging and equipment business. This role will focus on identifying, developing, and creating new business opportunities that expand the sales pipeline and contribute to revenue growth. Working closely with the sales team, this position requires a strategic thinker who can cultivate relationships, understand market trends, and deliver solutions to meet client needs.
Primary Responsibilities / Essential Functions
· New Business Development:
- Identify and target new business opportunities in the food packaging and equipment sector.
- Develop and execute strategies to penetrate new markets and industries.
- Actively prospect and qualify leads through various channels, including networking, events, and market research.
· Client Engagement and Relationship Building:
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, decision-makers, and influencers in target accounts.
- Conduct client needs analysis to offer tailored solutions and present value propositions.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings.
· Market Research and Strategy:
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to identify growth opportunities.
- Provide insights and recommendations to the Director of Sales for market positioning and product offerings.
Sales Team Collaboration:
- Partner with the sales team to transition qualified leads into the sales pipeline.
- Support the preparation of proposals, presentations, and contracts.
Basic Qualifications
- Result oriented individual
- Excellent presentation, interpersonal communication, analytical, and logical skills
- At ease establishing business relationships with individuals from various industries and at various corporate levels
- Requires logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
- Effective, constructive daily communication with sales team.
- Proven track record of achieving or exceeding business development targets.
- Strong understanding of food packaging and equipment markets, including key trends and challenges.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field.
Experience:
- 5 years of experience in business development, sales, or a similar role in the food packaging, equipment, or manufacturing industries.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Requires contact with others (face-to-face, by telephone, virtual meetings, VOIP or otherwise) and working and interacting in a group or team
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret data/documents/safety rules or manuals/operating instructions or procedures/maintenance, etc.
Technical Skills
- Expertise with CRM, MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Working Conditions
This position offers a flexible, hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a combination of remote and in-office work. While much of the work can be performed remotely, the Business Development Manager may be required to work on-site as needed. On-site work will take place in a professional office environment, where the individual will interact with team members, collaborate across departments, and engage in meetings to support the company’s goals. The hybrid nature of this role provides flexibility while ensuring alignment and engagement with office-based teams and resources.
Travel Requirements
This position requires 30-50% travel. Travel will be primarily domestic, covering various regions within the United States.
